Finding Fashion, and Investing

As a model, I’ve been into fashion forever and have my list of favorite brands. I’m a tough fit so when I find something that fits, I tend to buy that brand over and over. Until my trip to Scandinavia last spring, my top list consisted of Dries Van Noten, Gabriella Hearst, Stella McCartney, Theory, and Zadig and Voltaire. Some of these brands are expensive, so I usually buy them on sale, past season. Anything to save some bucks and look good in the process. But I know my body well enough now and have defined my style to where I can buy online fairly safely. (Key to knowing what brands, styles, cuts work for your body)

When I discovered Tiger of Sweden (Sweden) Samsoe Samsoe (Danish), Fillipa K (Swedish), and By Malene Berger (Danish) during my travels, my mind was blown.  I’d never heard of these brands before and was impressed by the quality, pricepoint, and fit. European brands tend to work better for me and I was so happy to discover these Nordic ones that also work.

When I slipped into a pair of jeans at Tiger of Sweden in Copenhagen, and into a By Malene Berger trench in Helsinki, I felt like the clothes were made exactly for me. And when I found the most unique suit at Samsoe Samsoe in Oslo, I knew it was coming home with me. In short order, I’d purchased what felt like a new wardrobe and had to buy another piece of luggage to get it all home! As much of a pain as it was lugging my new loot around, it was well worth it.

I’m a firm believer of investing in good pieces - especially when you find ones that fit you incredibly well, because they will serve you so well over the years. I fell in love with Scandinavia on my trip and I’m so glad I brought so much of its style back with me.
